Research project title: TRIALs - Transformative Resilience for Inner Areas and Local communities. Strategies and actions for disaster risk reduction and post-disaster recovery
Principal Investigator: Massimo Sargolini
TERRITORIAL DATA SYNTHESIS for environmental, urban, and territorial analyses in a GIS environment to assess territorial vulnerabilities and multi-risk exposure based on previous research outcomes. Besides, we will conduct site visits in the pilot case studies to collect archive images helpful in participatory visual research. It could be supported by creating an interactive database on a digital GIS platform of the geological characteristics and the housing-infrastructural and social characteristics of the territory. These analyses and assessments will be outlined in such a way to be easily compared with the planning tools in force and the legislative framework by establishing a direct relationship with the concerned administrations.
RETURNING RESULTS FOR DESIGN & PLANNING to achieve the project aim and to promote a transformative resilience methodology in the Inner Areas and consequently to face the risks deriving from natural hazards. Based on the literature review, we draft the preliminary methodology that, applied to the case study, will be then adjusted and integrated with the feedback from the pilot implementation on the study area. Internal reports will be drawn up documenting the research progress, and short final reports of each WP will be produced to fix critical points. These documents also contain the guidelines for planning by scenario and an example of design for the case study.
